Purpose
The purpose of the BASN Breakfast meetings is to provide entrepreneurs with a forum to test and improve their company pitch. By having the opportunity to present interactively to a real live VC, you get valuable feedback that will to make it even better and more effective. There is a single VC present at each meeting. They are invited to attend based on their experience in the venture business, abilities to very quickly absorb the basics of a pitch, as questions and give feedback. They are also chosen for their stamina in being able to conduct meaningful dialog in as many a nine pitches in a single hour and one half meeting!
Details
On the morning of the BASN Breakfast meeting the conference room doors open at 7:45am at Perkins Coie in Menlo Park. Our location is the large conference room adjacent to the lobby. A light breakfast buffet and coffee are available. At shortly after 8am we begin the program. Each registered entrepreneur is given a time slot of about 8 minutes to present the pitch, answer questions from the VC and get feedback. You also are able to observe the pitches from each of the other entrepreneurs. Its a great way to improve your pitch in a low pressure environment, and pick up tips from others as well.
Ground rules are: verbal pitches only-no demo or slides. The meeting ends promptly by 9:45am. There is usually time until 10am for networking and if he is able to stay-talking with our VC. I will also stay in case you have feedback or other comments that can help us continue to make these meetings even better.
The BASN Breakfast meetings generally are on the third Thursday of each month. The actual scheduled dates for them are on this link.

Bay Area Startup Network (BASN) is a fast growing non-profit association in the San Francisco Bay Area focused on helping early stage entrepreneurs build successful companies.
Although focused mostly on technology and life sciences, BASN events and membership draw from all sectors of industry.
BASN hosts 2-5 events every month attended by entrepreneurs, executives, investors and venture capitalists. Our e-mails reach a list of 5,500 executives, entrepreneurs, investors and service providers, one of the largest targeted groups in Silicon Valley.
Our Investor Breakfasts are focused on bringing together entrepreneurs and Angel investors or Venture Capitalists in a small informal setting. This is where entrepreneurs get a chance to make their "10 MN pitch" in an informal atmosphere and establish close personal contact.
Our Dry-Run Presentations program is free for members and allows entrepreneurs to rehearse their presentation and obtain feedback. The Dry-run Presentations are held on demand at the offices of the Communications Technology Cluster in Oakland. If you or your company is interested in presenting, please contact us by e-mail at info@basn.org .
Our monthly Feature Events are targeted industry or topic panel discussions, often accompanied by startup company presentations to an audience or a panel of potential investors.
Our Workshops cover topics like networking, how to build an executive summary, how to build a business plan, how to raise early financing, etc.
Our Lunch Networks program allows entrepreneurs to meet each other at informal monthly lunches, so they can share their experience and knowledge
The mission of Bay Area Startup Network (BASN)is
to help San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California startup companies in
technology, health care, life sciences and other fields raise funds andgrow
successful companies. We do that by facilitating the networking between
early-stage startups and venture capital providers such as angel group members,
private angel equity investors, and early stage venture capital companies. Our
startup company members typically are raising seed and series A funds,
sometimesseries B and C capital.Although our members benefit fromourties
with a number of formal Silicon Valley venture firms and Bay Area angel groups,
BASN, as a non-profit organization whose sole goal is to facilitate the
networking between startup companies and private and institutional investors,
does not invest directly in startup companies.
